Bachelor Thesis

The number of bachelor theses that can be supervised is limited. Hence, not all requests can be accepted. Students should propose a topic, which we will narrow down together. To do so, the topic should be presented using the guidelines for an exposé provided by the Mannheim economics department (download here). Before making the request, take the time to familiarize yourself with the department handbook on how to approach your Bachelor's thesis. Supervision requests should be made via e-mail and be accompanied by a current transcript and the exposé.

Requirements for the thesis

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to autonomously elaborate a chosen topic, which was discussed with the supervisor, on the basis of contemporary literature. A very good thesis should

  1. Survey the relevant literature for this topic autonomously,

  2. Develop at least one original thought, algorithm, application or result not yet presented in the literature.

Before writing a thesis, the participation in a literature research course by the library "Ehrenhof" is recommended.

For information on formal requirements, see the "Guidelines for Bachelor theses" by the Mannheim economics department. The department also offers counseling on how to write a thesis, please visit the following website for further information.

Master Thesis

The number of master theses that can be supervised is limited as well and not all requests can be accepted. Students should propose a topic, which we will narrow down together. Requests for supervision should be accompanied by a current transcript and an exposé presenting the topic (guidelines for the exposé can be downloaded here). Please consult the Master's Thesis handout prior to making your request.
